Plastic Recycling
A total of 19 community centres in Mumbai and 6 in Suburban Mumbai actively participated in the recent Plastic Recycling Drive. In Mumbai, the centres collectively contributed 100 kgs of plastic waste and 4,000 kgs of paper waste. From Suburban Mumbai, 122 kgs of plastic waste and 1,335 kgs of paper waste were gathered.
This initiative reflects a strong community effort towards promoting sustainability and responsible waste management.
Paper Recycling
In a pioneering sustainability effort, Burhani Foundation launched a paper recycling drive that has spanned three years and 99 drives across major cities including Mumbai, Surat, Pune, and Ahmedabad. Collecting over 101 tons of paper waste, the initiative has saved approximately 1,717 trees, 707,000 gallons of water, and 404,000 gallons of oil, significantly reducing landfill burden. Recycled paper has been repurposed into essential stationery for offices, schools, and community centers fostering a circular, eco-conscious approach to community resource use.
Zero Waste Campaign (Indore)
Indore Event
In collaboration with Project Rise, a community-driven event was organized in Indore to promote Zero Waste living. The initiative focused on encouraging households to adopt the 4 R’s of waste management, Refuse, Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle at an individual level, fostering sustainable habits and environmental responsibility.
